Today someone asked me to confirm several people attendance in our next meeting on Monday. The day before, I have sent a preface email as material to be discussed in the next meeting. Only one person (out of 9) confirmed that she has received the email, and one of them said that he agree of what was wrote. This day, when I try to confirm their attendance through sms, I have to wait 6 hours to get answers. Aaaargghh!!!! This communication and medium thingy make me frustrated.
In the old times, people use mail as medium to communicate. It is usual to wait until months or year to get some answers, but after the invention of telephone and internet, long distance communication should be easier and faster, but in the reality, there are some delay. Off course there are a lot of possibilities as happened when I asked my colleague to confirm, one of them said that he has confirmed yesterday to the person who asked my help to confirm. The other, after received my sms, confirmed directy to the person asked my help, the third person, said that he confirmed to unknown number, and the last confirm to me directly. Is it so difficult to answer to me directly since I’m the one who asked?
I guess the communication thingy is something related with culture. For me, communication through handphone and internet are closely alike with talking directly. Sometimes I even choose to talk through email since it can reduce uneccessary thing like talking another people weakness, but for other people, communicating through medium is still hard. Should I come to their house and talk to them directly or this is a learning process? I hope the answer is the last one.
