History of Science and Technology
Does technology has politic? As a culture product, it does have. The question that arises is how can we ‘control’ the politic of technology? By seeing its construction, the politic of technology can be followed by see it assessment. In bio energy case, scientist assessment on nature will influence the technology selection (policy). Problems arise when the technology selection doesn’t give the performances that have been expected before. What can we do when that happens?
Arie Rip (1995) introduces a new approach on managing technology in society: constructive technology assessment. This new approach gives a reflective awareness from actors that involved in the society. This reflective awareness is indicated by how the society places them as a part of the society with a unique function.
