Does knowledge need material artifact? Moreover, does technology gives impact to society? For me, the answer of those questions is yes. Knowledge can not be spread without using words, books, material presentations, computer, while technology influence our way of life. In traveling for example, nowadays it is usual to use airplane for moving around the world, something that is impossible in the ancient era.
An interesting phenomenon is bike to work movement which lately becomes famous in several cities in Indonesia. While some people change their car every year or month for the sake of lifestyle, some young people use bike to work as a part of their lifestyle. The ideology to this new lifestyle is to reduce carbon using for a better world, but as a movement, the knowledge transfer also include a material artifact which become part of their identity in the movement.
