There are at least three features of natural objects a laboratory science doesn’t have to accommodate(Knorr-Cetine, 1999):

It does not need to put up with an object as it is, it can be substitute transformed and partial versions.
It does need to accommodate the natural object where it is, anchored in a natural environment; laboratory sciences bring object “home” and manipulate them into their own terms, in the laboratory.
A laboratory science need not accommodate an events when its happens; it can dispense with natural cycles of occurrence and make events happens frequently enough for continuous study.

For instant, the three conditions above shows the relativity of science. If the laboratory doesn’t explain the natural condition of the object that been observed than what’s the benefit of the study? Debate about objectivity and subjectivity, real and approximation has a history as long as the science itself.
