Technology, policy and funding become three elements which can’t be separated. Beyond the three elements, there are human which made the linkage possible. Triple helix is an example of a model which try to linkage those elements, or sometimes substituted with label university, government and industry. Formula which believed as an ideal relation between the elements. But how generic the model is?

The triple helix model was born in innovation studies. Henry Etzkowitz, define triple helix model as a spiral model of innovation that captures multiple reciprocal relationships at different points in the process of knowledge capitalization. The model uses United States as a case study, with some pre-condition which validate the proximity of the model.

In Indonesia, linkage between academic, university and government is always happened. Loan from the World Bank or Asian Development Bank for examples, was granted by the government which gave the loan as a grant to the university. While relation between university and the industry can be seen from the graduates which enter the industry. Beside that, the government also play a role as an policy maker for university and industry

So, what is the purpose of triple helix in Indonesia? Another jargon celebration?
