What is in a number? The Human Development Index, Gross Domestic Product, and other parameters are using numbers as standards to justify rather a country or region is categorized as rich, moderate or poor. Sometimes the parameters are equivalent with the society condition, but in some case the gap between rich people and poor people make the result of the parameters still good while the real condition of the society is bad.
There are always positive and negative sides of simplicity. If the numbers pass some critical point, some action will be needed. But what if the parameter doesn’t represent the real condition?
