It was revealed in Nature Neuroscience that the high level action video games increase a player’s real-world vision.
But Daphne Bavelier, professor of brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Rochester, found that very practiced action gamer have an increase in their ability to discern slight differences in shades of gray as 58 %, which is known as one of the attribute of the human visual system.
To proof the finding, Bavelier, in collaboration with graduate student Renjie Li and colleagues Walt Makous, professor of brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Rochester, and Uri Polat, professor at the Eye Institute at Tel Aviv University, tested the contrast sensitivity function of 22 students. He found that the students who played the action games showed an average 43% improvement in their ability to discern close shades of gray.
Well, at least this finding shows that the time you spend to play action video game is not harmful, especially for eyes, as many people thought
