After the first cases of touch-emotion synaesthesia discovered in NewScientist last year, recently the regions of our DNA that wire some people to “see” sounds have been discovered.
NewScientist reported, Julian Asher at Imperial College London, and colleagues from the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford took genetic samples from 196 individuals of 43 families.
In this research, they did such a genetic analysis of repeated genome and tried to find what makes it different person to person. The finding hopefully can be used to find solution to autistic epilepsy sufferers.
