Wow! Way to go to the maturity of technology here, when the engineers and computer scientist work together. They developed a software to coordinate the movement of thousands of cars in case of an emergency situation, by analyzing the traffic flow. Well, I do learn Dynamic Programming Model in my college, but modeling the cars flow in emergency situation has never come up in my mind.
One of the problem model used in the development of this software is the last Katrina and Gustav that 2 million people out of their homes. American people need solution, for sure.
Yi-Chang Chiu, Ph.D., A civil engineer at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz said, “This model allows us to accommodate such a vast amount of traffic over a short period of time, over such a large geographical area” She with the team has developed the tools, based on the drivers’ behavior. In the practice, she added, that the driver will be able to estimate — under any circumstances — how they choose when to leave their destination — which route they take.
